The success of recycled content bottles depends on high numbers of plastic milk bottles being recycled.

In 2008, approximately 57% of HDPE milk bottles consumed and collected in the UK were recycled. This is an increase of 9% on the previous year, which is good news but more still needs to be done to increase recycling rates.

More than 18 million UK households (or 70%) now have access to plastic bottle kerbside collection schemes and this figure is increasing all the time.
