
Bottle to bottle recycling is also known as closed loop recycling. This is where waste HDPE bottles are collected and reprocessed to enable them to be used again for HDPE bottles. Closed loop recycling is widely agreed to be one of the best forms of recycling.
The first sites that are able to reprocess food grade HDPE opened in 2008 and during 2009, plastic milk bottles will be available with up to 10% recycled material. It is hoped that levels of recycled content can rise up to 30% during 2010.
